Scooty, the most commonly used term to describe a gear-less scooter in India. The term itself has become so common that if you happen to use the correct term i.e. 'scooter' then there is a high probability that you might get corrected by the other person. The moment you use the term 'scooter', people immediately relate it to a Bajaj Chetak or an LML Vespa. This is mostly because during the times when geared scooters used to be popular, they were called scooters and a very popular gear-less scooter was mostly known as 'Kinetic-Honda'. Even though there were other gear-less scooters in the market, it was TVS who made this segment highly popular by launching the 'Scooty Pep', a lightweight gear-less scooter in 2005. And ever since then any gear-less scooter in India is being called as a 'scooty' and the actual term, i.e. 'scooter' lost its identity. So, a motored two-wheeler (both geared & gear-less) with a step-through frame and a floorboard to rest the feet is called a scooter. It is to be noted that a two-wheeler children's toy with a long steering handle is also called as a scooter and that is the reason why 'Google search' shows images of a toy instead of a motored two-wheeler when you search the term 'scooter'.
