Daily Diary #2: Almost got my skin ripped off: Pro Biker Riding gloves

Cheap Pro Biker motorcycle riding gloves are not abrasion resistant.
About two months ago I got a call from a business client at 6:30 PM. I had just reached home from office and it was raining heavily outside. He asked me if I could meet him at around 9:00 AM the next morning with the documents that I was supposed to deliver to him so that he could make the payment. Without any second thought, I agreed with him. Since I had just reached home after riding my motorcycle in the rain, I did not want to go back to the office again to collect the documents. The next morning I woke up early as I had to collect the documents from the office first and then visit my client. My office was just 6 KM away from my home and unlike other days since I was in a hurry I chose not to wear my riding jacket and knee guards to save few minutes. It was already 8:30 AM so I just took my Pro Biker riding gloves and the helmet and left for my office to collect the documents. At 8:45 AM I had almost reached the office when a three-wheeled cargo carrier (commonly known as an auto van) suddenly took a right turn from the side of the road and came right in the middle of the road. I panicked and pulled the front brake a little too hard. The road was muddy due to the downpour last night and my motorcycle does not have an ABS, as a result, the front wheel locked and the motorcycle skid on the road. I fell on the road with my palms facing down. People gathered around me and were shouting at the auto van's driver but he took off. I stood up but my left knee was hurting but since I was wearing denim the pant did not tear due to the abrasion. I pulled the pant up to check my knee. It was bleeding but the injury was minor as the skin did not come in contact with the asphalt directly. Thanks to denim. People helped me to park the motorcycle on the side of the road and asked if I needed any help to get home. I appreciated their help but I said I could go home on my own.
Hole in a Pro Biker motorcycle riding glove after the accident.
I check my palms and found that the mesh of the left glove had a big hole in it but my skin was absolutely fine. Thankfully, I was riding my motorcycle at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph because if the fall had somehow caused my palm to get dragged on the road a little more then my skin would have definitely got ripped off. I somehow rode my motorcycle back home and then went to see a doctor. I informed my client that I would not be able to meet him that day due to an accident. He was disappointed but understood my situation. Later the next day I fixed my motorcycle myself as no major damage had occurred to it.

I could have easily avoided all these by simply wearing the riding gear that I use daily but in an attempt to save few "precious" minutes I got myself injured. But it is necessary to add that cheap quality riding gears like the gloves from Pro Biker that cost around INR 400 will protect your skin only if the impact is small because the quality of the material used is below average and do not provide resistance against abrasion. Accidents do not occur by measuring distance, weather, time, or according to your gender, etc, therefore, always wear good quality riding gears while riding motorcycles.
